DIY Skateboard Deck

NOTE: This class includes two sessions: 6-8pm on Thursday July 28th AND 9am-1pm on Saturday July 30th.
Design and build your very own custom cruiser-style skateboard like a pro from seven layers of hard maple veneer. Learn the concepts of vacuum press veneering and bending wood. And practice using basic woodworking power tools including the bandsaw, jigs, and other handheld power tools. Also, learn basic hand tool woodworking techniques with files, rasps and hand planes. Learn how to apply a basic wood finish, and get help setting up your skateboard deck with trucks and wheels (not supplied) so it’s ready to ride.

- Hand tools: rasps, files, and scrapers
- Power Tools: bandsaw, drill press, and various sanders
You will leave the class with your own handmade skateboard deck ready for the installation of trucks and wheels.
What to Bring:
Work clothes and a water bottle
$220 total for two sessions.
The instructor will provide all materials necessary to complete your skateboard deck.
Optionally, if you would like to leave with your skate deck ready to ride, you can bring the following to the second day of class:
- 139mm Trucks
- 58mm wheels (4)
- High-Performance Bearings (8)
- 1/8-in risers (2)
- 1-1/4-in. long Hardware (8)
- Sheet grip tape
All ages, 13 years or younger with adult supervision
