Methods for Electroplating and Electroforming

Are you interested in making your own electroplated jewelry? This class offers people the opportunity to begin learning the necessary skills to plate your own artwork with copper, silver, or even gold! Get on board with an extremely popular new art form.

Overall, we will cover copper solution preparation, assembling an electroforming rig, object preparation, cleaning and finishing, and an electrochemical explanation of how it works.

• During the session, students will produce an electroplated object provided by the IFL

• By the conclusion, a student will know all that is necessary to assemble and operate their own at-home electroforming rig, and how to avoid common electroforming pitfalls.

What to Bring:

•  A notebook and pencil

• $10 cash for materials

• Jewelers crystals will also be available for purchase for those who are interested

Katelyn has been a teacher and an independent jewelry artist for 6 years. She supports her art by selling all over the Santa Cruz area, and can be seen at the SC farmers market and online.
