Interactive Video and Projection Mapping
Join Tra Bouscaren to learn how to develop and control your interactive video and projection mapping projects. We will mix live and pre-recorded video, as well as abstract video structures created from within the program itself.
Class Description:
Join UCSC Art Department Lecturer Tra Bouscaren to learn how to develop and control your interactive video and projection mapping project. Designed for theatre groups, dance troupes, performance and installation artists, Isadora is a visual programming environment that offers a powerful set of live and interactive video manipulation options in real time.
In combination with Isadora, we may also explore the many programs with which it can interface, including: Processing, Arduino, Touch OSC, Syphon, EpocCam, and DMX controls.
Skills Covered:
We will cover all aspects of interactive video and projection mapping through Isadora.
Depending on student interest/aptitude, we may also interface the program with Processing, Arduino, Touch OSC, XBox Kinect, webcams, security cameras, as well as using IR camcorders with bandpass filters to track and fill shadows with video.
What to Bring:
Personal laptop with Isadora 2.2.2 already downloaded and installed. If you have your own projector please bring it for an enhanced experience.

Instructor Bio:
Tra Bouscaren is a post-disciplinary artist working at the intersection of found-object assemblage and interactive video. Currently he serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Art at UC Santa Cruz. His work has been featured nationally and internationally at venues including the Centre Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona, Victor I Fils Gallery in Madrid, the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, the Neu Kirche Contemporary Art Center in Pittsburgh, Hallwalls in Buffalo, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, and New York’s Lincoln Center. He has been represented by N2 Gallery, Barcelona since 2007.
