  • We do not allow memberships for anyone under 18, but children can accompany a guardian to the lab. The first child is free with the membership of a guardian, additional children may accompany their guardian at the price of $45 a month.
  • Children under the age of 18 are allowed to use the equipment with supervision.

No pets, please. Due to allergies and delicate machinery we ask that members and visitors refrain from bringing any animals to the lab; certified service animals are welcome.

Guests are welcome to accompany members infrequently, and are not permitted to use any equipment. If you refer a friend to join as a member and they remain a paying member for 4 consecutive months, you will receive one month free!

You are welcome to bring your own materials! Also, wood and 3D-printer filament are offered for sale on-site.

Yes! We have an ever evolving schedule of classes and events happening at IFL that are open to members and non members. In addition, we currently have three monthly topic based meetups happening on site every Thursday. Please check out our schedule at https://santacruz.ideafablabs.com/events/.

Open house is every Monday from 5pm to 7pm. New member orientation is held every first and third Monday from 7pm to 8:30pm.

We opened in June of 2015!

Each zone with its accompanying tools have a Safety and Basic Use course designed to teach you basic use and functions of the tools. They are required for every member to take at least once before starting to use any equipment.

Additionally, we offer peer-to-peer tutoring if you need specific help with your projects or ideas. You can find a list of available tutors on our website at: https://santacruz.ideafablabs.com/tutoring/

Food and drinks are welcome in our food area, but we ask that you refrain from eating at the computers or near the tools.
